The Supabase repository exposes the pieces behind its Postgres-centered platform, including supporting services for auth, storage and realtime workflows. I'd inspect the local setup when evaluating migrations or application integration, and distinguish that development environment from a production self-hosting plan. The benefit is visibility and deployment choice. The cost of operating it includes upgrades, secrets, backups and monitoring across the stack. Postgres portability does not eliminate the application work involved in moving auth or storage integrations.
