Perplexity

Perplexity is an AI search and research product that combines web retrieval with synthesized answers and source links. It supports follow-up questions, and its more involved search workflows can investigate a question across several sources.

I'd use it to get oriented on an unfamiliar topic, compare a few products or find the primary documentation behind a claim. Give it a specific question and a useful boundary, such as the country, time period or kind of source you need.

The source links are the feature I would pay most attention to. Open them. Check that the quoted page actually supports the sentence, and look at the publication date. For a product comparison, I would use the answer to find the vendors' own documentation before making a purchase decision.

The tradeoff is that a readable synthesis can flatten disagreement or miss a qualification. A citation makes a claim easier to inspect; it does not make it automatically correct. For detailed work, I would keep notes on the actual sources rather than treating the generated answer as the final research record.
